Giving back to the community is what it’s all about for Central Elementary School’s new second-grade teacher, Brandi Polk.

“Second grade and fifth grade were my most memorable years,” Polk said. “The teachers really cared about every one of us, and they enjoyed what they were doing. I wanted to become a teacher to give back to the community. I want my students to know that they all matter, that they mean something to someone. Some of these kids come to school thinking no one cares about them, and I want them to know someone does care and always will.”
