Internet Safety Night was held Monday evening in the cafeteria at Zia Intermediate School. Eugene Irby, Zia PTO president, had a lot of useful information for both parents and teachers in regard to helping children practice safety measures while online.
One of the points Irby emphasized is that having digital savvy is quickly becoming an important 21st Century skill. For students, many textbooks are now becoming available online as well as access to iPads and eReaders in classrooms. Irby said it is important for both parents and teachers to visit the websites that students are using as well as make themselves familiar with social networking sites and applications, or “apps,” which are popular with kids. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
