A 24-year-old Artesia man found guilty of rape in early December was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Monday.

John K. Williams was sentenced on seven separate counts, including three counts of criminal sexual penetration, armed robbery, aggravated burglary and two counts of tampering with evidence.

“The tampering with evidence charges ran concurrent,” District Attorney Les Williams said on Monday. “All other are to be served consecutively.”

The three counts of criminal sexual penetration, one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated burglary are all considered second degree felonies and carry a maximum sentence of nine years. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
