Police are investigating seven separate check fraud cases in Artesia.

The worthless checks were accepted by various Allsup’s and Town & Country convenience stores. According to Sgt. Lindell Smith of the Artesia Police Department, the checks were written within the past year.

Smith indicated that the checks were not connected to only one person and that there are currently some suspects, with “possible arrests in some of those cases.”
