Former Yeso Elementary student Kayla Rauch is returning to her old school – this time as a fourth-grade teacher.

“I had a change of heart,” Rauch said. “I love kids and wanted a meaningful job and to make a difference in lives. With teaching, I would be able to make a difference.”
Rauch first attended South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, then transferred to NMSU-C to finish her bachelor’s degree. She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
“My main philosophy is to make a difference, to encourage the kids to be the best they can be and show them that they are capable of achieving their goals,” said Rauch.
Rauch taught sixth grade for one year at PR Leyva in Carlsbad and then applied for a teaching job in Artesia.
“I wanted to teach in Artesia where I grew up,” said Rauch.
Now a fourth-grade teacher at Yeso, Rauch is thrilled to be back.
