Southeast New Mexico is seeing a significant increase in population due to industry growth in Eddy County, which is holding the lowest unemployment rate in the state. But a high increase of highway fatalities is taking a toll.

The first Free Road Safety Integrated Project (RSIP) SafetyFest Conference was held last week at the Pecos River Valley Conference Center in Carlsbad with the intended goal of building awareness about hazards and accident prevention, job injuries and highway fatalities.
