The Artesia City Council passed a property sale ordinance and a resolution to adopt the Artesia Comprehensive Plan, promoted six police officers, and hired four public employees in various departments Tuesday at their regular meeting.
The ordinance passed by the council was for the private sale of property – a 20.2-acre parcel of land located at the intersection of 26th Street and Richey Avenue – to the Crestline Building Corporation. “The Governing Body has spent a great deal of time and effort identifying ways to provide housing to the citizens of Artesia in order to provide a solution to the shortage of available housing,” the ordinance states. “This apartment complex will be a first step toward alleviating the problem facing the citizens including the workforce, which is critical to the growth of Artesia.”
