ALAMOGORDO – Sitting Bull Falls, an historic recreation area on the Guadalupe Ranger District, Lincoln National Forest, has expanded its hours and will remain open seven days a week during the summer season.

Due to ongoing staffing shortages in the area, the site had previously been opened under modified hours.

“We are excited to keep Sitting Bull Falls open seven days a week for the summer season,” said Deputy Forest Supervisor Marjorie Sealey. “Ensuring that sites like this are open and available to the public is a top priority for our Forest, and we appreciate the dedicated employees who are making this possible.”

To serve the local public and facilitate access, staff from other districts have been deployed to open the gate. The site will now be open from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Summer hours will continue through Sept. 8.
