ARTESIA — The Special Olympics New Mexico Summer Games torch will make its way into Artesia Monday as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
According to a release, the run began in 1981 in Wichita, Kans., when Police Chief Richard LaMunyon saw a need to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics.
