ARTESIA – Two local men were arrested after they attempted to burglarize a home in the 1100 block of Center Avenue at 6:30 a.m. Friday. Joseph Olivos and Angel Saiz were both charged with crimes connected to the incident after a call was made in reference to a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival at the scene, an Artesia Police Department officer witnessed Olivos leaving the scene. The officer gave commands to stop and his Taser was deployed.

Olivos left the area on a bicycle and eluded capture until he struck a stationary police car. He was then taken into custody.
