Motorists are experiencing long delays on U.S. 82 east of Artesia due to a pavement rehabilitation project. The project is slated for an Oct. 23 completion, but Mountain States Constructors Project Manager Neil Jackson says the work is running ahead of schedule, predicting a possible early end around the second week of October. The New Mexico Department of Transportation has set up a one-lane closure, with a pilot car guiding travelers through the work zone. “The NMDOT appreciates the cooperation of the public and its courtesy and asks for all to adhere to the construction signage and watch for construction workers,” said Donna Gililland, NMDOT project manager.
