Members of the Catholic church engage in the reenactment of Jesus’ walk to Calvary Friday afternoon, an annual tradition designed to allow participants to reflect, meditate and pray over the anguish endured by Jesus Christ. Each year, church members commemorate “Jesus carrying the cross courageously,” as Ricky Garcia stated, up the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem to Calvary. “Two thousand years ago, not everyone stayed as faithful followers of Jesus as he was weighed down by the cross,” said Keenan Flynn. “Today, our church members share their time to engage in the commemorative walk as faithful followers of Jesus Christ, embracing his entrance into Jerusalem and remembering the crucifixion of our savior, who suffered courageously and willingly faced the blasphemy and died so that we could be free.” Grace Miller – Daily Press
