Heather Wilson, Republican candidate for U.S. Senator from New Mexico, experienced one of her childhood pastimes Thursday at the Eddy County Fair.
“I was a 4-H kid and won a few ribbons at our county fair,” Wilson said. “I like the fair, and I like to watch the kids show (their animals).”
One of the reasons Wilson visited Eddy County Thursday was to answer some questions from businesses and individuals about their different concerns. She also visited Navajo Refining and Penasco Valley Telecommunications in Artesia. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
“There’s 33 counties in this state and a lot of different interests, and they’re facing different challenges,” Wilson said. “If you’re going to be a United States Senator, you need to stay connected to all different parts of the state, not just the big cities.”
Wilson expressed her concern for New Mexico and of her opponent, Martin Heinrich, U.S Representative for New Mexico.
“One of the reasons I spend a lot of time outside of Albuquerque and Santa Fe is because my opponent is an extreme environmentalist against oil and gas, and he’s just too extreme for New Mexico,” Wilson said. “Outside of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, he can’t really understand the impact that would have on making a living and having a job.”
