Emergency services personnel respond Thursday afternoon to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at Fairgrounds Road and Seven Rivers Highway. According to the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, a red Ford Taurus failed to stop at a posted stop sign while traveling west on Fairgrounds and was struck by a silver Dodge Neon traveling southbound on the highway. The driver of the Taurus was transported to Artesia General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Neon was airlifted to Lubbock, Texas, with more serious injuries. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol was a factor.
