Services are scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, with a rosary and Mass following at 1 p.m. Friday, May 24, for Juan Luis Zubia.

Zubia, 48, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 16, 2024, in El Paso, Texas, following a valiant battle against cancer.

He was born June 20, 1975, in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Antonio Zubia and Armida Miranda.

On July 16, 1994, he married Veronica Chavez, and together the couple had three children: Karime, Luis and Miranda.

In 2000, Luis and Veronica moved to the U.S., chasing the American Dream. Luis worked hard as a ranch hand and at the local dairies before finally joining the team at Payne Packing Co., where he remained until he was able to purchase and own the business for himself. This was one of his greatest and proudest accomplishments.

Although Luis was one of the hardest workers, he enjoyed hosting friends and family over for sporting events and holidays. He was often the life of the party, singing people’s favorite songs. He also enjoyed watering and tending to his lawn, trees and plants. This was one of his favorite pastimes. He could also be found traveling, watching movies, and helping others.

Survivors include his wife, Veronica; children Karime, Luis and wife Bianca, and Miranda; and granddaughters Sofia, Olivia and Isabella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Armida.

Arrangements are under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. Condolences may be expressed online at www.artesiafunerals.com.
