There’s no chance of the United Way of Eddy County’s upcoming golf tournament fundraiser raining out – the entire event will be held indoors.
The nonprofit organization is pleased to announce its inaugural two-man alternate shot virtual golf tournament. First American Bank’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tee” tournament will take place Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Golf Society, 1609 W. Pierce St., Carlsbad.
“This will be a full-fledged, 18-hole tournament but the first of its kind as well,” said Kyle Marksteiner, executive director of the United Way of Eddy County. “We’re so thankful to the Golf Society, First American Bank, and all of our sponsors for helping us with this fundraiser for our ongoing campaign.”
The Golf Society’s state-of-the-art indoor simulator allows competitors to compete in one of four bays.
The event will also include a silent auction, food trucks and free cornhole.
Anyone who brings a toy valued at $10 or greater will receive a free mulligan. Toys will be donated to local charities holding toy drives. Teams will pick time slots on a first-come, first-served basis.
To register, call the Golf Society at 575-361-5278. First American Bank is the tournament’s title sponsor. Additional sponsors include Intrepid, the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association, AR Foreman Construction, Double T Oilfield, the Hotel Sevens Inn and the 575 Baggers.
The United Way of Eddy County is a volunteer-driven organization that serves all Eddy County residents through its own programs and services and those of its partner agencies. The organization works to advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks for a good life – education, financial stability, health, and basic needs.
