The Artesia Community Theatre invites Artesians to immerse themselves in the action-packed world of “Jake Revolver, Freelance Secret Agent” Aug. 18-21 at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center.
The play, written by Matthew Konkel at directed by Sandy Schuetz, is a “radio noir,” private detective parody featuring an ensemble of local and area actors and ACT regulars, including Rob Duncan as Jake Revolver; Rebecca Griffin as Emmy Award; Mike Jaxson as the radio announcer; Kandese Green as Angel Fatale/Lt. Ann Danderson; Jim Schuetz as the narrator; Kirk Daniel as Dashiell Roll/Raymond Rattle/Mr. Cray/Windy; Sandi Farley as Trudy; and Donald Dutchover as Wallace.
Foley artists will be Becky Terpening and Melanie Dippel, while Max Salgado will focus on lighting and sound.
The audience will join Jake Revolver as he fights against conspiracy, double-cross and self-reference to uncover the killer of his own narrator.
The production will be performed as if for the premiere episode of a 1940s live radio broadcast and is packed with puns, wordplay, oodles of absurdity, and Beatles references.
“Jake Revolver” combines slapstick, screwball humor, commercial spoofs, and a murder mystery to guarantee laugh-a-minute theatrical comedy.
The ACT’s performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18-20 and 2 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased online at www.artesiaartscouncil.com or at the door.
