The Pride of the Pecos Valley goes through its paces Tuesday afternoon at the 2013 Southeast New Mexico Music Educators Association District Marching Festival at Bulldog Bowl. It was a tough year of judging for the seven bands in attendance, with no band receiving a rating of 1. The Artesia High School band received a 2, along with Hobbs and Carlsbad. Lovington, Portales, Goddard and Roswell all received 3 ratings. “I am very proud of them,” said AHS band director Lisa Dillon. “No one made a 1 today; that is an eye opener for all of us. The kids gave it their best, and that is all we can do or ask for.” Grace Miller – Daily Press
