ARTESIA — The Artesia Public Schools have reported a total enrollment of 3,876 students for the 2015-16 school year in grades K-12.
The official enrollment tally came in 122 students under the 3,998 who were enrolled prior to the start of school Aug. 17, a natural fluctuation affected by families relocating and other factors. The APS is still up slightly in numbers from last year, with 3,859 students enrolled in 2014.
Artesia High School reports a student body of 837 this year, with 585 students at Park Junior High and 567 at Zia Intermediate. Yeso Elementary has the highest enrollment among elementary schools with 541, followed by Hermosa (355), Yucca (300), Roselawn (214) and Central (180). Grand Heights reports 283 kindergarteners, and 18 students are enrolled in the Penasco schools.
