ARTESIA -- The Artesia Public Schools (APS) is continuing...

The Artesia Public Schools have released their plans for an Artesia High School Class of 2020 Celebration Parade, to be held on the original date of the school’s commencement exercises.

The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 21

AHS seniors will drive the parade route, which includes a number of designated areas for families, friends and supporters to view and cheer for the graduates from their vehicles as they pass. Tickets, which are free of charge, will be required to park in any of the designated areas. Those areas include:

  • Richardson Avenue
  • North Bulldog Pit Parking Lot
  • South Bulldog Pit Parking Lot
  • South APS Administration Building Parking Lot
  • Faith Baptist Church Parking Lot
  • Harvest Fellowship Parking Lot
  • West Main Baptist Church Parking Lot

Tickets will be available from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday, May 18, through Thursday, May 21, at the northwest outdoor ticket booth at Bulldog Pit. Each ticket will admit one vehicle into the designated area. A limited number of tickets for each area are available, and tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The designated areas will be open for parking at 5 p.m. May 21 and will close in preparation for the parade at 6 p.m. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m.

All participants should maintain social distancing by remaining in their vehicles. Attendees are urged not to attempt to view the parade from another area after it passes.

A culminating event at Bulldog Bowl will be private and accessible only by tickets that have already been provided to graduating seniors. Law enforcement will be present, and accessing the Bowl without a ticket in a vehicle or on foot will be considered trespassing.

Additional information and instructions are provided on each ticket.

The APS thanks you for your support of the Class of 2020.
