The Artesia Public Schools will distribute free 25-pound boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables to families next week.

The APS says it believes it will have enough boxes for every family that wants one, with the produce provided through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “Farmers to Families Food Box” program.

Boxes will contain produce such as potatoes, onions, celery, apples and oranges. There will be a limit of one box per family, and boxes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The distribution will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Park Junior High School, 1508 W. Cannon Ave. Vehicles should enter the south parking lot from the east end and exit to the west.

APS employees will transfer one box of food to each vehicle, and residents are asked to remain in their vehicles unless otherwise instructed.
