ARTESIA — In 2010, Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center Manager Nancy Dunn made the decision to publish a book on Artesia history and, along with the help of former museum registrar Naomi Florez, spent the spring writing and compiling photos.
The result was “Artesia,” the latest book in Arcadia Publishing’s popular “Images of America” series.
“Artesia” is a pictorial walk through the history of the community, boasting more than 200 vintage images and providing readers with a unique opportunity to reconnect with the history that helped shape the City of Champions.
Before New Mexico became a state in 1912, hardy pioneers had already established the village of Miller on the dusty southeastern plains of the territory.
