11-15-SorryThe Artesia Public Library will join more than 1,000 libraries around the world Saturday, Nov. 21, in celebrating the Eighth Annual International Games Day @ Your Library.

The event – an international initiative supported by the American Library Association, the Australian Library and Information Association, and Nordic Game Day – gives families the chance to enjoy special gaming programs at their local library.

The Artesia Public Library will have its Xbox One hooked up with Kinect, along with decks of cards and board games. Games will include classics such as Sorry!, Scrabble, Pictionary and many more in the library meeting room, along with modern board games like Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Cataan. Interactive group games will also be planned throughout the day.

The meeting room will be open for play from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and Artesians are encouraged to drop in with their families and friends for some game playing fun.

The event is free, and light refreshments will be served.

The Teen Anime Club will also celebrate International Games Day at 3 p.m. with Japanese party games. The club is devoted to anime, manga and Japanese culture, and is open to teens ages 13-18.
