Services were held at 10 a.m. today at Terpening & Son Chapel for Barbara H. Mejia of Artesia.

Mejia, 77, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, in Artesia.

Monty Leavell officiated the services, and interment followed at the Hagerman Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eric Mejia, Ralph Mejia, Adam Solares, Albert Reyes, Luis Reyes and Andrew Sena.

Barbara was born March 5, 1940, in DeWitt, Ark., the daughter of Ralph “Bud” and Virginia “Virgie” (Baugus) Foster.

On July 25, 1961, she married Ysmael “Smiley” Mejia in Winter Haven, Calif.

She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, being outdoors, horses, photography, and Native American art.

Survivors include sons Eric Mejia of Navarre, Fla., and Ralph Mejia of Artesia; brother Ralph Foster of Jackson, Miss.; grandchildren Ashton Montgomery and husband John, Audrey Mejia, Jessica Solares and husband Aaron, and Adam Solares; and great-grandchildren Harrison, Vivian and Weston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Smiley Mejia, on June 19, 2013; her parents; daughter Felicia N. Mejia; and brother Stanley Foster.
