Officials at a military base in New Mexico say the state’s driver’s licenses and IDs will continue to be accepted as identification good for entry into the base until Oct. 10, 2017.

An announcement Wednesday by the 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis cites an update to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s website. The websites of Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque and Holloman Air Force base in Alamogordo as of Wednesday morning still cited grace periods running through Jan. 10, 2017.

Homeland Security in February notified Gov. Susana Martinez that New Mexico had been given an extension until October to meet federal identification requirements for driver’s licenses. The extension until October followed the state Legislature’s approval of new rules for immigrant driver’s license.
