After months of sifting through thousands of photos and weeks spent in front of a computer screen, Nancy Dunn and Naomi Florez were beginning to grow a bit weary of their labor of love.

When their finished copies of “Artesia,” part of the “Images of America” book series, arrived, however, they knew their efforts had been worthwhile.

“Once we got the first proofs back and kind of looked them over, we could finally step back and say, ‘OK, this was a good thing to do,’” Dunn said Wednesday. “And when we finally got the books, it was like ‘wow.’ We felt really proud of the job we’d done.”

Dunn, manager of the Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center, and Florez, will be on hand Friday at B&B Newsstand to sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase at a cost of $21.99. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
