ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos bolstered their depth at safety on Wednesday by signing fifth-year veteran Shiloh Keo, who played 42 games with the Texans and is familiar with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips’ schemes.

The Broncos needed help at the position because of injuries to David Bruton Jr. (knee) and Omar Bolden (hamstring) at San Diego on Sunday.

T.J. Ward missed the game with an ankle injury that is expected to sideline him again this weekend against Oakland.

That left the Broncos with two healthy safeties in Darian Stewart and Josh Bush, who was re-signed last week.

The Broncos made room for Keo, who was in training camp with the Bengals this summer, by releasing quarterback Christian Ponder on Tuesday.
