Artesia High School quarterback Justin Houghtaling smiles as young fans take turns trying on his helmet during a community pep rally Thursday at Bulldog Bowl. The rally, sponsored by Devon Energy, followed the Bulldogs’ intermural scrimmage versus Onate and annual Quarterback Club hamburger fry. After a performance by the AHS marching band, the AHS football, volleyball and soccer teams mingled on the field, greeting supporters and signing autographs for budding Bulldogs.
