The Artesia High School student body gathers in the band park this afternoon during a lunchtime pep rally. Students were treated to burgers as they cheered on the Bulldog volleyball and football teams, which open their state-tournament runs this week. The volleyball team departed for Albuquerque following the rally, where they’ll begin Class 4A state pool play Thursday morning. The football team will kick off its Class 5A state quarterfinal against Piedra Vista at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bulldog Bowl.
