Above, Robert and Chelsea Orona ready daughter London Orona to throw out the first pitch Thursday prior to the Bulldog baseball team’s inaugural home game at Brainard Park. The Bulldogs invited London to open the contest in honor of her brave battle and miraculous recovery from injuries sustained in a November 2017 car accident, and presented Chelsea Orona with a batting helmet signed by the team in memory of her son, Cy Palmer, who tragically lost his life in the accident. London fired a solid throw at Bulldog catcher Robert Fernandez (20), who then presented her with the ball. The Artesia High School baseball team will also wear stickers on their helmets this season in remembrance of their biggest fan, Cy Palmer.
