Eddy County officials have announced the county will receive funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to aid in the repair of damages incurred during snowstorm Goliath.

County Finance Director Roberta Smith said the funding will amount to up to $43 million. Snowstorm Goliath, which hit the area in late December 2015, caused widespread damage in Eddy County, with accumulations of more than 2 feet in some areas and drifts that reached much higher due to high winds.

The majority of the county’s expenses were incurred clearing snow from and subsequently repairing roads damaged by the snow.
