The Artesia Police Department (APD) is investigating a death that occurred Saturday in a local park.
According to APD Sgt. Chris Gallegos, officers were dispatched around 10 a.m. Saturday to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Complex in response to a report of an unresponsive male subject.
Gallegos said the subject was found to be deceased and was identified as Lupe Hernandez Jr. APD detectives processed the scene, and Hernandez’s body was sent to the Office of the Medical Examiner for autopsy.
