CARLSBAD — A Carlsbad woman has been arrested for trafficking fentanyl in Eddy County.

The Pecos Valley Drug Task Force (PVDTF) reported Thursday evening that Kathryn McDonald of Carlsbad was arrested Oct. 11, 2023, following a narcotics investigation by the agency.

PVDTF agents were able to make contact with McDonald at her home in the 4400 block of Apple Street, where a search warrant was executed that led to the discovery of more than 16,000 fentanyl pills and smaller amounts of methamphetamine, three firearms, and more than $8,000 in cash.

McDonald was charged with trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. She was bound over to Fifth Judicial District Court on Dec. 29, 2023.

The PVDTF investigated this case with assistance from the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and Carlsbad Police Department.
