The 2015 Bulldog football team got its first taste of true game-format action Thursday at Bulldog Bowl as it hosted its annual intermural scrimmage versus Las Cruces Onate in conjunction with the Quarterback Club Hamburger Fry and a community pep rally sponsored by Devon Energy.

A large number of fans hungry for both a burger and the return of the high-school football season turned out to watch the ‘Dogs take on the Knights. And while scrappy Onate held the upper hand in terms of touchdowns, with Artesia scoring just once, the boys in orange showed skill on both offense and defense as they identified the areas in need of fine-tuning prior to their Aug. 28 season opener in Belen.

At left, sophomore quarterback Taylor Null lunges over the goal line for the Bulldogs’ lone TD. Below left, the Orange Crush defense works in tandem to take down a Knight running back. Below center, Ethan Duff nearly hauls in a onehanded grab. Below right, Carlos Carrasco takes down an Onate receiver.
