Dorothy Jean Laman Dorothy Jean Laman, 76, beloved mother, was called to her eternal resting place Sunday, March 22, 2020.

She was born Sept. 4, 1943, in Artesia to Roy and Johnnie Mae (Norris) Laman.

Dorothy Jean was a nurse, caretaker, loving mom, and super grandma. No matter how old her kids were, they were still her babies.

She was also an artist who loved Peter Hurd’s work and was a very talented piano player who could hear a song one time and turn around and play it to the note. And let’s not forget that she was a great cook and loved to feed her family.

The world has lost a wonderful person, and heaven has gained a special angel.

Survivors include brother Dean Laman and wife Karen of Yelm, Wash.; and brother Bill Laman and wife Tanya of Artesia. She was the loving mom of three wonderful children, Cindy Herron, Dale Laman and wife Dona, and Shawna Brady, all of Artesia. She was the world’s best grandma of six grandkids and 14 great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.

A family gathering will take place at a later date.
