E-Waste collection will be here before you know it.

It’s not too early to start gathering all the electronics that you kicked to the back of your closet to store until the annual collection. Mark the calendar now: June 16-17 at the Eddy County Fairgrounds food court.

This will be an anniversary year, as it is our 10th. Who would have thought that there would never be an end in sight when this event was started? I do have to give credit to all of the summer youth that work for our organization, as without them, this just would not happen. No one would work as hard the week of this event as the kids and I do.

I have had girls say that they developed muscles in their arms during the collection. When I hire them, I tell them this is probably the hardest they will ever work due to lifting all of the electronics. It’s a good workout. Sometimes they get highly entertained as something very vintage comes in and I have to explain how it works, which of course makes me feel like a dinosaur.

I got to bring a .33 record one time to play so they could see how the arm of the player works with the tiny needle and produces great sound. Should I say everyone in our building enjoyed the Ventures at volumes you could hear across the street?

We will NOT be accepting TVs this year, and if you bring the huge CRT monitors, you will be charged $5 per monitor.

The Shred Boss will be with us from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, for any documents that you would like shredded. They are limiting it to residential and 100 pounds. If you are commercial, please make arrangements with them for disposal. The Shred Boss is a bonded and insured document destruction company and will have been with us for six years now.

More information will be posted before the collection date, but if you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at 748-3192 for more information.
