At a brief ceremony conducted this morning at the soon-to-be-demolished brick building at the corner of Second Street and Quay Avenue, most of the conversation revolved not around what used to be but what was to come.
“On behalf of the Artesia Library Foundation, we are pleased to be here because this is a great day for the City of Artesia,” Peyton Yates, representing the Artesia Library Foundation, said. “And hopefully within 12 to 14 months, we’ll be here again, dedicating a new building.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
The new building Yates referred to was the new Artesia Public Library, a 26,000-square-foot facility scheduled to begin construction with a formal groundbreaking ceremony Sept. 21.
