The economic future of Eddy County appears to be bright.

During the Eddy County Commission meeting Tuesday, New Mexico State University-Carlsbad Small Business Development Center Director Larry Coalson explained Eddy County population is growing and its economy is on a productive path.

“We are growing, and we are growing relatively fast for a rural community,” said Coalson.

Over the past 10 years, the population has steadily grown; only two of those years saw a population decrease. Between 2006 and 2010, the county grew 1.5 percent every year, three times faster than the average rural community grew throughout the 20th century. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
