Following the success of last year’s state shoot, the Eddy County Shooting Range Association (ECSRA) recently received word that the Eddy County Shooting Range will be hosting the New Mexico Sporting Clays State Championship for the second year in a row.
“We are just tickled to death to be hosting the state shoot again,” Bill Rogers, last year’s shoot superintendent, said. “If we’re able to replicate the success of last year’s shoot, I know we’re all going to be very, very pleased.”

As Rogers explained, this year’s state shoot was originally planned to be hosted by the Del Norte Gun Club in Rio Rancho, but due to some internal conflicts, the club had to pass up the opportunity.
“We were approached around December and asked if we’d consider hosting the shoot again,” Rogers said. “We absolutely obliged. I think it had a lot to do with the fact that the 2012 shoot was really successful and went very smooth.”
