ALAMOGORDO -- The U.S. Forest Service has announced Thursday,...

11-3-ECSRATrailerA white trailer containing archery equipment for youth was stolen from the Eddy County Shooting Range. The trailer was unique in that it had a side piece that flipped down, it could be used as a concession stand.

It was full of archery equipment, at least twenty bows. The new archery shop in Roswell, Killshot Outdoors, had just generously donated new arrows to us, they were only used by the young people once. These new arrows had camouflage colored shafts. We had Maxwell bows.

We had just started working with young folks from the new organization, 7024U. They have been out to the range twice. Then because of rainy weather, a church garage sale and the Lions Club Tailgate Party, we haven’t had the kids out to the range in a few weeks. This trailer could have been stolen weeks ago.

We are devastated at this loss. Who steals from kids? Besides the bulk of our archery equipment being donated by Friends of NRA, so many individuals have donated equipment to our club.

It seems there have been numerous auto thefts lately in Artesia. Keep your eyes open. Let’s get neighbors helping neighbors. If you have any information, please contact the Eddy County Sheriff’s Department, 575-746-9888. Officer Dan Taschner was the officer who took the report.
