ARTESIA — The Artesia Public Schools (APS) is continuing to offer a series of parent training workshops over the coming months.

The workshops will be held from 5-6 p.m. at the APS Administration Building, 301 Bulldog Blvd., and will include:

  • Oct. 18: Behavior Strategies for Parents with Yeso Elementary School principal Lynn Worley and special education teacher Kelly Morgan
  • Nov. 15: Parenting Through Play with speech language pathologist Vanessa Harvey
  • Dec. 13: Help for Students Entering the Workforce with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth Program, the New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and Individualized Educational Program (IEP) facilitator Emily Bennett
  • Jan. 17, 2024: Managing Meltdowns with speech language pathologists Kristy Hamilton and Tiffany Ortiz
  • Feb. 21, 2024: Communication as a Family Unit with social workers Dena Nelson and Nikia Rubio
  • March 27, 2024: DD Waiver, Mi Via Waiver and Special Olympics with Joyce Munoz of J&J Home Care
  • April 17, 2024: Graduation Pathways with Zia Intermediate School principal Halee Goff
