Last week, 262 Hermosa Superkids participated in the school’s annual spirit run.

For this fundraiser, students run laps around the track on Hermosa’s playground and collect donations per lap (or flat donations) from individuals and businesses around the community. Each grade level is given 15 minutes to complete as many laps around the track as they can.

Top runners, Brooklyn Chase (5th grade) and Jackson Desko (4th grade) each completed 16 laps and tied for completing the most laps around the track. This year the school raised a total of $32,160 and the top fund raiser was Noah Azua.

The Bulldog Mascot and AHS Cross Country team helped to cheer the kids on and count their laps around the track. Artesia Fire/EMS were near by for festive sirens and safety precaution for participants. Principal Kaci Whitmire expressed, “Hermosa Spirit Run Day is one of the days I always look forward to. It is so much fun to see our community come together to cheer on and support our students!”
