Bulldog Bowl played host Tuesday to the 59th Annual Southeast New Mexico Music Educators’ Association (SENMMEA) District Marching Festival, with seven bands and six color guards competing.

The Pride of the Pecos Valley kicked off the evening of music and marching, followed by Goddard, Lovington, Portales, Carlsbad, Roswell High and Hobbs. Artesia and Portales’ bands were given 2 ratings by marching band judges Pam Towry-Church of Red River, Eric Eaks of College Station, Texas, and Joshua Buckrucker of Corsicana, Texas. All other bands received ratings of 1.

The evening culminated with a special performance by the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhound Sound, which had the crowd rocking with a Metallica-themed show.
