ARTESIA — Five members of the 2019 Bulldog football team were named recently to the Class 5A All-State teams.

Just one athlete received All-State First Team honors: senior back Braxton McDonald, who was named to the All-State Offense as a receiver.

The four other Bulldogs were all appointed to the All-State Second Team and included senior quarterback Clay Houghtaling, senior defensive back Canon Carter, senior receiver Erik Cueto, and senior offensive lineman Ethan Wilbanks.

Two-time 5A state champion Roswell led the First Team selections with nine, five on offense, four on defense. Goddard logged six All-State First Team placements, two on offense, four on defense, while 5A runner-up Los Lunas earned six, three on each side of the ball.
