Artesia High School Class of 2014 graduate Alexis Aguirre set a new school record for the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhound women’s track and field team Thursday at the Joe Gillespie Invitational meet in Stephenville, Texas. Aguirre placed first overall in the javelin with a record throw of 142’10”. The ENMU sophomore took the Class 4A state title in the event for the Lady Bulldogs at the 2014 State Track Meet with a throw of 140’7”, an Artesia High School record and one foot away from a state record. She was the state runner-up in the event in 2013. Aguirre was named Miss Bulldog for the 2013-14 school year for her efforts on the track, basketball and volleyball teams. She also competes for the Greyhound volleyball squad at ENMU.
