Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest held a “Babysitting 101” workshop in Artesia May 12 for local girls to learn tips, basic safety practices, and even business skills in preparation for earning some summer spending money.
Membership manager Maria Landrie and program specialist Priscilla Lafferry showed 13 girls how to change diapers, prepare baby bottles, and basic first aid and CPR/Heimlich maneuver techniques. The workshop also covered the basic questions that each sitter should ask a parent and activities sitters can do with their charges.
The girls also learned how to start their own summer babysitting business and left the workshop ready to set up shop!
