Gaye d’Entremont

Glenda Gaye d’Entremont, formerly of Artesia, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2017, at the age of 82.

Gaye, as she was known to most, was residing with her daughter, April Frazier, of Norman, Okla., at the time of her death.

She was born Feb. 14, 1935, in Tucumcari to William Elmore and Lela Ethel Patterson. She and her family relocated to Artesia, where she resided most of her life.

Gaye grew up in First Baptist Church, where she later taught Sunday School for many years. She remained active in her church until she was no longer able to attend. She was also a member of Altrusa and worked many years in the banking community.

When she was no longer able to work in the community, Gaye began babysitting in her home. “Gigi,” as she was known to her many “adopted” children, embraced her new calling wholeheartedly, showering these children with so much love, teaching them of God’s love, and praying for them daily.

Survivors include brother Tracy Patterson and wife Lou of Artesia; son Joseph d’Entremont and wife Veral of Artesia; daughter April Frazier and wife Robyn of Norman; grandson Caleb de’Entremont and wife Mandie of Shawnee, Okla.; granddaughter Chandler George and wife Morgan of Washington State; great-grandchildren Gavin Aweho Norton and Amethyst Lee d’Entremont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, William E. “Pat” Patterson; mother Lela Ethel Patterson; and brother William Edward Patterson.

There will be no services, as was her wish; however, the family gathered privately to celebrate her life.

Memorial contributions may be made to the local humane society, cancer society, or charity of choice.
