Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Aug.

24, at Faith Baptist Church for Johnathan DeWayne Sevier of Artesia.

Sevier, 47, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at his home.

His brother-in-law, Joby R. Houghtaling, will officiate at the services.

Sevier was born Dec. 30, 1967, the eldest child of James and Leta (Powell) Sevier. He graduated from Artesia High School in 1985 and attended the Phoenix Institute of Technology, graduating with a certificate in architectural drafting in 1987. He went on to have a career in fabrication, welding and blueprint schematics, working for a variety of shops in Southeast New Mexico and Colorado.

One of his proudest achievements was being a foreman on a crew that worked on the renovation of the Denver Broncos’ Mile High Stadium. The Broncos were his favorite football team. He loved his family and also loved to fish and hunt.

Survivors include two children, Dalaci and husband Phillip and Katelynn and husband Jeffrey; grandchildren Lashay, Vinson, Emmaleigh and Talon; parents James and Leta; sisters Pam and husband Joby and Jamey and husband Tre’; brother Phillip and wife Jenny; grandmother Jean Sevier; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Clita Eldean Powell; great-grandparents Mrs. and Mrs. LA Thompson; and grandfather Lloyd Sevier.

Jon will be greatly missed.
