The Chamber of Commerce asked the residents of Artesia, like they do every year, to donate money for the extravagant fireworks display held Monday night at Jaycee Park.

Cash for the annual show, however, trickled in slowly this year.

Finally, Tuesday afternoon, the break-even mark of $35,000 was reached.

“The morning after the display, people came into the Chamber of Commerce and donated money,” said Hayley Klein, executive director at the Chamber of Commerce. “Altogether, around $7,000 was raised in one day.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
