Employees of midstream provider Lucid Energy Group are pitching in to help those affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma in Texas and Florida.

Lucid employees in Dallas, West Texas and New Mexico donated funds that were used to purchase supplies for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Lucid is matching employee donations dollar-for-dollar.

Wearing t-shirts imprinted with the “Lucid Cares” motto, Lucid employees in Artesia last week loaded supplies including blankets, pillows, diapers, water, canned goods, and pet food into pickup trucks and delivered them to the Sun Country Garden Center. The garden center is working with 4-H clubs in Artesia and Houston and is also providing free transportation to the Houston area where the supplies will be distributed to local relief organizations.

Lucid’s effort was led by Rachel Hite, a human resources and payroll assistant based in Artesia.

“I was planning on donating items for the hurricane victims, but I wanted to make a larger impact,” said Hite. “As a Houston native with family in both Houston and Florida, this hit close to my heart. If I were in this situation, I would want good Samaritans to return the favor. This experience has refocused our country on what truly matters – people helping people!”

Lucid’s hurricane relief program is ongoing. Donations will also be used to help those affected by Hurricane Irma, which struck Florida Sunday.
